Small studio for £1,200 a month

A MINIATURE studio costs £1,200 per month to rent out – and its cuisine will take your breath away.

One lucky tenant might be the new tenant of their own en-suite room in posh Kensington, but the price is a little too good to be true.

The apartment is a three minute walk from High Street Kensington tube station and just 12 minutes from Earl’s Court station, an incredible location in one of Britain’s most luxurious postcodes.

Even though the listing on OpenRent describes the apartment as “newly renovated”, with laminate floors, a double bed and an en-suite bathroom, the kitchen is absolutely tiny.

Tight next to the bed, the small kitchenette includes a sink crammed next to two hobs and a kettle that looks balanced in the photos.

A slim washing machine and a folding chair are also tucked away in the bedroom.

There seems to be nowhere to hang clothes although there is a standing chest of drawers and a few shelves.

While the rent includes heating and hot water bills, a local voice criticized the price as too expensive.

Local Work Councilor Emma Dent Coad said MyLondon“People will be lining up around the block for this. What terrible times we’re living in.

Properties in the borough are actually the most expensive in the UK, costing 36.5 times average incomes.

In South Kensington, 80% of homes cost over £1million and even garages are on sale for £150,000.

Yet around 3,000 residents of Kensington and Chelsea are on the waiting list for social housing.

The owner has been contacted for comments.

The studio came onto the rental market after a similar apartment in Southampton was branded an “elf”.

The agent describes the modest rental as “small” and at around 8ft x 6ft, they’re not mistaken.

The photos online show a neat room that is a living room, bedroom and kitchen all rolled into one.

For those looking for their own tiny home inspiration – a tardis property costs around £109,000 in Somerset.

Despite its narrow entrance, the aptly named “Backabit Cottage” was a fairly spacious two-story, one-bedroom, one-bathroom home.
