Salisbury’s Studio Theater turns 70

IT IS a big year for the Studio Theater in Salisbury as it celebrates its 70th anniversary.

To kick off its own Jubilee celebrations, the Ashley Road-based theater will present a celebration of Shakespeare’s varied and varied talents in Merely Players.

It presents scenes, songs, sonnets and snippets of the great man at the theater from Wednesday June 22 to Friday June 24 at 7:30 p.m.

This will be followed by a grand garden party in the Woodford Valley on Sunday July 3 at 2pm when Merely Players perform again in The Court House’s flower garden, followed by tea, cakes, strolls in the riverside, as well as a stroll around the book stall.

Entrance to the gate for the garden party – £5 for adults and children are free.

Studio Theater also announced its new season of plays planned for the coming year.

From September 29 to October 1, Murder in the Cathedral is followed by The Comedy of Errors from October 17 to 22.

There’s pantomime at the Studio Theater when it presents Treasure Island which runs from December 5-10.

In 2023, productions include A Fine Bright Day Today (March 27-April 1), A Doll’s House (May 22-27), and Steel Magnolias (July 10-15).
