The Ripon Area Community Theater (RACT) will perform its spring production of Henrik Ibsen’s dramatic classic, “A Doll’s House,” Friday through Sunday in the Ripon High School auditorium.

Originally set in 1879, RACT adapted the story to take place in the middle of the 20th century. “A Doll’s House” follows Nora Helmer, a housewife with four young children, and her husband, Torvald, who has just taken a well-paying job as a bank manager.

Nora’s dreams of a prosperous and perfect life and marriage are disrupted when she is confronted with a secret she has been keeping from her husband and fears it will ruin her happiness. Nora struggles to understand her role in her marriage and in the world.

The play is directed by Kim Hansen-Sinclair and Linda De Jager and stars Alex Paulson, Brian Reilly, Melissa Gerber, Dean Shafer, Dylan Schattschneider, Cheryl Iverson, Gwen Bartlett, Anna Brantley and Ellie Sinclair.

“A Doll’s House” is rated PG and contains allusions to suicide. Performances will be Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission is $10; children 12 and under are free. RACT will also hold a 50/50 raffle during intermission.
