Lesley Manville of The Crown stuns at the red carpet premiere of Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris

Lesley Manville led the way at the red carpet premiere of her latest film, Mrs Harris Goes To Paris, in her chic all-black outfit.

The 66-year-old posed with co-stars at the Curzon Mayfair cinema in central London, which had a miniature Eiffel Tower behind them to set the stage for the recently released adaptation of Paul Gallico’s 1958 novel.

The Crown actress stars as widowed maid Ada, a hardworking housekeeper who decides she wants to spend all her savings on a Dior dress, after seeing one worn by a wealthy client.

She skimps and saves (and gambles at the racetrack) to raise enough money and finally arrives at Dior’s headquarters on Avenue Montaigne, where she charms everyone.

The fairy tale is over when she moves to Paris and begins to make changes – for the better – at the fashion house.

On Sunday night, Lesley wore a sleek black leather blazer and a set of straight-leg pants, completing the all-black look with a pair of patent leather pointy heels that popped below the pant legs.

Her warm brown locks looked voluminous as they were pulled away from her face to highlight her face.

Also present are Ellen Thomas, who plays Ada’s co-worker, housekeeper Vi Butterfield, and Lambert Wilson, who plays the Marquis de Chassagne.

Rose Williams, 28, also opted for an all-black look with a slim blazer and frilly midi skirt underneath, completing her look by wearing her hair in a braided bun tied with a black ribbon.

Ellen Thomas, 66, looked sensational in a matching orange, black and navy striped shirt and trouser ensemble, complete with an eye-catching beige fur-trimmed cape.

Explaining that the role of cleaner was more relevant, she told Alison Boshoff of the Daily Mail: ‘It’s in my bones. This is the life I knew, because I had working-class parents.

Lesley reflects, “I didn’t know the book at all. It came to me as an offer, so it was nice to read it, knowing it was mine if I wanted it.

Continuing: “It was more exaggerated when I was playing someone like Princess Margaret, because I had no knowledge of that life.”
