Fundraiser Helps Gold Star Memorial Marker Project |
Jerald Meyer shows off the Moss Creek Furnished Log Dollhouse he built for the Anna-Jonesboro Garden Club to members Jean Few and Glenda McDowell. The dollhouse – 24¼ inches wide by 17½ inches deep by 21¼ inches high – is fully furnished, even with the moose head above the fireplace. The dollhouse, worth over $250, is being raffled off to raise funds to install a Gold Star family memorial marker in the Anna-Jonesboro Garden community park. The raffle – tickets are one for $1 or six for $5 – ends on Thursday, June 30, at the club garden walk and 70th birthday party at the park; you don’t need to be present to win. The club is also accepting raffle donations by mail; send a Log Cabin Dollhouse memo check, along with your name and phone number, to Betty Sirles, AJGC Treasurer. PO Box 130, Alto Pass, IL 62905-0130. The Gold Star Memorial marker honors the families whose loved ones have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, September 25, which is Gold Star Mother’s Day, at the park. To donate to the marker, send a Gold Star memo check to Sirles.
