A Philly townhouse for $550,000
The Newbold neighborhood home ticked pretty much all the boxes for Elise and Bobby Doll as they looked to leave the University Hospital area in 2020.
“We were looking for a diverse neighborhood to raise our children, something closer to the city centre, somewhere to raise a young family, accessible to the Broad Street Line,” says Elise, a midwife/nurse practitioner.
“We like old houses. They have a good foundation,” she added. “We liked the open floor plan, where you can be in the kitchen and watch the baby.”
Pretty much all that was missing was a rooftop terrace, so she and her husband, Bobby, an executive at a cybersecurity firm, started planning one.
But plans have been shelved for the next owner. Elise, who is expecting the couple’s first child, recently left her job in South Jersey for a job in suburban Pennsylvania, so the couple will be moving there.
The living room, kitchen, and dining room join the open floor plan of the first floor.
The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops and an island. There is also a laundry room, a powder room and a patio.
Three of the bedrooms, including the main one, are on the second floor.
One of the bathrooms has exposed brick and white subway tiles, and the master bath has a separate glass shower, double sinks, and backlit mirrors.
Bobby uses the fourth bedroom, on the third floor, as an office.
The finished basement is suitable for games room or storage. The total square footage is 2,144.
There is easy access to Broad Street, various train stations and the East Passyunk shopping corridor.
The home is listed by Caitlin Beck of Keller Williams Philly for $550,000.
